The Worry Matrix

08/26/2013 14:58

This is the set of instructions Marc originally gave me when I was extricating myself from the sticky wickets of life in Illinois. (I  frequently return, but there is nothing icky or sticky about it anymore.) Marc reconstructed what he remembered; I worded things a bit differently and threw in something else I frequently turn to when in high-intensity mode, so now it's the Marc-and-Linda version.

It's hard for me to go back to those days I needed this guidance.  I don't know if I would have the energy to do it again, but as the Sage said: "We say we cannot bear our trials, but when we come to them, we bear them."

The conclusion of that life phase story is everyone involved is now better off despite the decision-making, the waiting, the searching.  I am so grateful, and would have never believed such a thing were possible - but we all room to grow in understanding and faith.  Pema Chodron said it best I  think: "With unfailing kindness, life teaches you what you need to learn."

The Worry Matrix was the start of me beginning to slow down and pace myself through the challenges of change.

Instructions - You start with the "Situation" you are in, and locate it across the top of the chart; then read down. It should be self-explanatory, but write with any questions.

Hope it helps if you need something like this.
